SLAEAJ Japan Cup Cricket Festival 2014 completed.

Sri Lanka Automobile Exporters Association completed the SLAEAJ Japan Cup Cricket Festival 2014 as planed on the 29th June 2014 at Edogawa Riverside ground. This was held with the blessing of his Excellency Admiral [Rtd.] Wasantha Karannagoda, the ambassador of Sri Lanka in Japan and the invited guest Mr. Roshan Mahanama who made a huge contribution to Sri Lankan cricket to win the Cricket world cup in 1996.

he event was organized with the valuable assistance of Sri Lankan Associations and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Japan. Cricket festival was started with the opening ceremony conducted by Mr. Harsha Gunasena and he invited Mr. Roshan Mahanama to do the welcome speech. Due bad whether condition at the ground cricket festival could not continue as planned. But, due to the commitment and enthusiasm of the participants organizing committee decided to start few exhibition matches among the participants team as a respect to their time and commitment.

Following teams were participated for the exhibition match.

Chiba United – Mr. Danushka (Captain)
Kashiwa – Mr. Asanka (Captain)
Gregg Sri Lanka– Mr. Vajira (Captain)
Nakano – Mr. Saliya (Captain)
Ashikaga – Mr. Thilina (Captain)
Gunma – Mr. Sunil (Captain)
Eksath Divided – Mr. Amila (Captain)
Shiroi – Mr. Cecil (Captain)
SLAEAJ Team – Mr. Jagath (Captain)
SLAEAJ Team – Mr. Meegalla (Captain)
Embassy Team

Out of 8 teams Chiba United, Nakano, Ashikaga and Shiroi were selected to the quarter finals. Eventually Chiba united and Ashikaga teams selected to the Semi finals. As the final match between Chiba United and the Ashikaga cricket teams, Ashikaga team won the final match.

As the iconic event of the festival exhibition match was played between the SLAEAJ members and the Sri Lanka embassy staff. It was the exciting part of the ceremony and SLAEAJ team won the match.

Mr. Vicky was commenced the closing ceremony and invited SLAEAJ president Mr. Jagath Ramanayake to deliver the thanking speech.

SLAEAJ organizing committee did not forget to thank Mr. Cecil Perera and Mr. Udaya Atukorala for their aspiration and strong mind to promote cricket in Japan.

During the speech of His Excellency, he thanked the SLAEAJ association as they stick in to strengthen the mutual relation between Sri Lankans living in Japan.

Champions’ prize was handed over by His Excellency ambassador Mr. Wasantha Karanagoda. And the Runner-up prize was handed over by Mr. Roshan Mahanama.
